I’ve made this pattern three times now—once for my niece and twice for friends’ babies—and the chunky knit works up so fast that I finished each hat in one evening. The newborn size fits snugly without being too tight, and the pompom stays put even after a few washes.

The pompom detail is what sold me—it's chunky but not overpowering, and the newborn size fits my little one’s head just right. I’ve already cast on a second one for a friend’s baby shower.
